Looking for guidance in your help center?
Sometimes it helps to see how someone else might handle a situation when making a decision about your content. I’ve created “templates” that can act as a starting point for your help center style guidelines as well as a sample layout. These are centered around how I might approach a project. While I’m currently providing these resources free of charge, I will ask you to provide some information about you for access to them. I hope you find them helpful!
Looking for a course on support content?
In partnership with the UX Content Collective, I created a course to help content professionals with all of their support content needs: Fundamentals of Support Content. Released in 2024, the course covers everything from what support content is, working with people at your org, maintenance and analysis, publishing platforms, and of course: all things structure and help center articles. The course includes unit practices and a portfolio-worthy final project too! You can find a more detailed breakdown of the course contents and cost on the course page linked above.
A quick note because I can’t help myself –
I’ve had so many ideas on what my own, real life, professional blog could look like –
I’m going to finally provide support people with the resources they need! I’m going to help people realize that content is the bridge for all of the gaps between product and marketing and support teams! It’s going to be a great success and polished reflection of all the things I’ve seen, discovered, and realized in my career – I know my brain is a jumbled mess of it all, but these ideas are brilliant!
The fact is, I have a lot of thoughts and a lot of drafts.
And things will probably stay that way for a while (thanks perfectionism). But I’m working on it, and I do think that what I have to share has value. Hopefully I meet some of my own expectations along the way, but I know that what’s most important is to do the thing.
So welcome one and all – please feel free to enjoy the thing!
